Stonewell Vineyards

Stonewell vineyards

Tammy’s family vineyard at Stonewell consists of 100 acres/40ha of both red and white varieties. Tammy’s parents John & Yvonne Pfeiffer, continue to care for this vineyard which once belonged to John’s parents. Schutz Barossa makes the most of this asset and has access to some special parcels of fruit, including Shiraz vines 70 years old.

Stuart takes great pride in the dry-grown vineyard he planted in 2004 near the Schutz family home at Stonewell, where his grandparents once lived. The 7 acre/2.8 ha vineyard was established just as Stuart’s grandparents would have – with no irrigation at all. Despite the extreme drought which has gripped the country over the past 3 years, the resilience of these young vines is remarkable. The first crop was hand harvested from the vineyard in the 2008 vintage and the quality is extremely promising.
